Polio eradication

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday stressed that Pakistan was committed to completely eradicate polio virus.

The prime minister held a telephone call with Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Co-Chair Bill Gates, the PM Office Media Wing said in a press release.

Mr Sharif appreciated the valuable support extended by the foundation in the eradication of polio, improving immunisation, nutrition and financial inclusion.

Mr Gates acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts to eradicate polio while reiterating his foundation’s continued support to ensure that no child would be at risk of paralysis due to poliovirus.
