PESHAWAR: The teaching and non-teaching staff of the University of Peshawar (UoP) continued their strike for the third day on Wednesday against the killing of security supervisor of the varsity, Saqlain Bangash.
All employees of the university and students took out a procession, which emerged from Islamia College University (ICU) and ended at the Puta Chowk of UoP, where they staged a sit-in.
The office-bearers of Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) also participated in the protest.
The protesters threatened to continue agitating if the government didn’t meet their four demands, including removal of the UoP vice-chancellor, initiating a judicial inquiry into the killing of security supervisor, clearing the university of arms and conducting psychological examination of all the security staff on the campus.
The protesters displayed banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the university administration.
FAPUASA president Dr Mohammad Izhar told Dawn it was a matter of serious concern that a teacher and a security supervisor were assassinated in ICU and UoP within two weeks.
