ISLAMABAD: Two women were murdered in separate incidents in the capital, police said on Wednesday.

In the first incident, a woman was killed allegedly by her husband in DHA Phase II. The victim was identified as Isha Hassan, 22.

Quoting the victim’s brother, Munib Khan, the police said the woman had married her husband two years ago. The suspect used to beat her often about which Isha informed her family several times.

However, her family ignored the matter to keep her marriage intact and after her husband apologised, police said.

On the day of the incident, one of her brothers, Usman Shabbir, tried to contact her but every time his call was rejected. Later in the evening, he received a call from the police who informed him about Isha’s death.

Munib Khan claimed that there were torture marks on her legs, hands and neck and that she had been strangled.

In another incident, a woman was murdered allegedly by her in-laws in Banigala. The victim was identified as Farzana. The police quoted the victim’s brother, Naeem Ahmed, as saying that his sister’s brother-in-law beat her up and later attacked her with an axe, killing her on the spot.

Her younger sister, who used to stay with Farzana, was an eyewitness to the killing, Naeem told the police, adding that at the time of the incident her husband was not present in the house.
