KHUZDAR: Mir Israrullah Zehri and Syed Akbar Shah were elected unopposed President and Secretary General of the Balochistan National Party-Awami, respectively, at the fourth national council session of the party held here.

Speaking on the occasion after his election, President Mir Israrullah Zehri said that the focus of his party’s politics was to unite all Baloch nationalist parties and leaders at one platform to protect resources and coast of Balochistan through a joint struggle.

“We are making all-out efforts to unite all nationalist parties but unfortunately all of them were doing politics for their own interests,” the BNP-Awami president said, adding that Balochistan was like a tree against which every passerby was pelting stones and damaging it.

“It is our disunity which is paving the way for others to exploit our resources and we are losing them,” Mr Zehri said.

He called for unity of all Baloch nationalist parties to protect resources and interests of the province and its people and warned that “if we failed to achieve this objective, the people of the province would not pardon all of us”.

Secretary General Syed Akbar Shah and other leaders also spoke on the occasion. They said that the BNP-Awami would not compromise on the rights of the people of Balochistan.
