MUZAFFARGARH: A man upset by inflation and poverty committed suicide along with his four-year-old daughter by jumping into the Abbasia canal at Head Panjnad here on Thursday.

Locals said Saleem, a of Ahmedpur Sharqia, was disturbed by his circumstances and on Thursday, he tied his minor daughter with his clothes and jumped into the canal.

Rescuers launched an operation but could not recover the bodies. They found an identity card and a photo of Saleem from his clothes. The search operation will resume on Friday.
