HARIPUR: Rivals shot dead a businessman over a plot ownership dispute in the Haripur city, police said here on Friday.

The city police quoted Usama, son of Siraj Khan, a resident of Bilal Town, Abbottabad, as saying that a 10-marla plot in Naseem Town, Haripur, was the property of his father, who had purchased it a few years ago. However, he said Javed from Chaintri village had also laid claim on the plot. He said both the sides were also in litigation over the piece of land.

On Thursday night, he said his father, who was also a property dealer, reached the plot along with his friends. He said Javed along with his accomplices, Amjad Ali and Afzal Khan, also arrived at the plot armed with weapons.

He said Javed opened fire at Siraj with a pistol, killing him on the spot.

The police arrested Javed, Amjad and Afzal after registering an FIR against them.
