DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The police recovered 400 litres of Iranian petrol, over 170-kilogramme hashish, and arrested nine persons along with weapons and ammunition, during various operations, an official said on Saturday.
Police spokesman Syed Yaqoob Bukhari said, a party led by Daraban SHO Abdul Ghaffar Khan stopped a double-cabin at a blockade and recovered 11 cans containing 400 litres of smuggled Iranian petrol.
The police arrested the driver, Dad Mir Khan Shirani of Darazinda area.
In another operation, Mughal Kot police seized 168 kilogrammes of hashish from a vehicle coming from Balochistan to Dera.
The spokesman said Darazinda police stopped the vehicle at Mughal checkpost for checking, and recovered 140 packets of hashish, weighing 168kg.
The police arrested the driver, Munir Ahmed, a resident of Taxila, Rawalpindi.
Also, the Daraban police arrested three persons and recovered over one kilogramme hashish from their possession.
The Daraban police arrested a thief and recovered a stolen motorcycle from his possession.
Meanwhile, the Band Korai police seized 470 grams of hashish and 25 grams of ice drug from the possession of an accused.
The police arrested an absconder, namely Mohammad Saqib, wanted in many cases and recovered a pistol and cartridges from him.
Meanwhile, the Gomal University police arrested an accused, namely Abdur Rahman, wanted by the Karak Police in several cases.
