PESHAWAR: Civic bodies have received machinery for snow removal and solid waste management under the World Bank-assisted Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Integrated Tourism Development (Kite) project.

They include the Galiyat Development Authority, Kaghan Development Authority, Upper Swat Development Authority, Kalash Development Authority and Kumrat Development Authority, according to a statement issued here on Saturday.

The statement quoted Kite project director Touseef Khalid as insisting that the project is meant to help with and support solid waste management, and road and snow clearing operations.

He said the machinery included wheel loaders with snow blower, angle blade and angle sweeper snow brush, 20 trash bins, dumper trucks, excavators, shovels, and tractors with frontend loaders.

Mr Khalid said the Kite project as part of its objective of building tourism assets provided purpose-built machinery and equipment to the relevant development authorities in the province.

“We [Kite project] are working to turn Khyber Pakhtunkhwa into a sustainable and responsible tourist destination,” he said.
