MR LIAQUAT Ali Khan replying in the Pakistan Parliament on Friday [March 12] to a question on the capital of Pakistan, said: “The Government have carefully examined the question of the capital of Pakistan and are of the view that Karachi is the most suitable place for it. The final decision, however, rests with the Constituent Assembly.” In answer to a supplementary question by Mr Abdulla Al-Mahmood (East Bengal) whether there was any opposition from the Sind Government in this respect, Mr Liaquat Ali Khan said: “No sir. The Sind Government are not opposed to the capital of Pakistan being in Karachi.”
[Meanwhile it was reported from Karachi that] Another arrest was made by the Sind CID on Friday [March 12] in connection with the alleged fraudulent issue of house allotment order by the Karachi Additional Rent Controller’s office. The arrested man was Noor Ahmed, a resident of Garden Quarters, who is believed to have had a hand in the issue of the permits.
