NORTH WAZIRISTAN: A key militant commander was killed and another involved in suicide attacks against security forces was arrested during intelligence-based operations (IBOs) carried out by security forces in the district on Sunday, officials said.

They said security forces also recovered a motorcycle with 20 kilogrammes of explosives.

Officials said security forces launched the first IBO in Dirdoni area of Miramshah following information about presence of some militants in the area. They said an exchange of fire took place between security forces and the militants, resultantly a key militant commander was killed and two others sustained injuries.

The officials said the second IBO was carried out in Haidarkhel area of Mirali, where security forces arrested a militant involved in suicide attacks against security forces.
