KOHAT: The KDA police on Monday arrested two men for attempting to smuggle weapons from Darra Adamkhel tribal subdivision to the southern parts in gunny bags through an unfrequented mountainous route.

A statement issued here said district police officer Shehzada Umer Abbas Babar, on receiving an intelligence report, had directed SHO Rauf Khan to catch the carriers.

The statement said the police surrounded the two inter-district smugglers in the Shiekhan mountains adjacent to Darra and asked them to surrender, but they attempted to flee.

However, after a little chase, the police caught hold of them.

The seizure included two Kalashnikovs, a 12-bore repeater, 10 pistols, 24 chargers, and 1,000 cartridges.

The smugglers were identified as Musharraf Khan of Bazidkhel, Kohat, and Akhtar Munir of Darra.
