LAKKI MARWAT: Bannu division commissioner Parweiz Sabatkhel has said no violation of human rights has been reported from any part of the region so far, saying his administration was committed to guarding the basic human rights of citizens and punishing those found involved in such violations.
Talking to a delegation of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan in Bannu on Tuesday, he said provision of basic human rights to citizens was his administration’s top priority as it was inevitable to achieve the goal of sustainable development.
The delegation comprising HRCP chairperson Hina Jilani, former MNA Jamila Geelani, vice-chairman Prof Ejaz, provincial coordinator Shahid Mahmood and manager Islamabad Maryam Rauf discussed matters pertaining to safeguarding fundamental rights of citizens.
Additional deputy commissioner Islahuddin was also present.
Mr Sabatkhel said if any violation of human rights was reported, it would be investigated thoroughly and those responsible would face action.
He said provision of fundamental rights to citizens would help eliminate backwardness and put the country on track to development.
Ms Jilani stressed the need for expediting efforts to provide all fundamental rights to the people of the region.
