KARACHI: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a man for his alleged links with the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.

“The CTD carried out an intelligence-based action and arrested Israr, a commander of TTP (Tariq Gedar group),” said a CTD spokesperson. A Kalashnikov was recovered from the suspect, who originally hailed from Darra Adam Khel and had arrived Karachi 20 days ago.

“The suspect has come to Karachi to carry out terror activities...he had also facilitated several incidents of terrorism in the past,” the spokesperson said.
