KARACHI: The Sindh police chief has set up an inquiry committee to probe into complaint against certain police officials for their alleged involvement in land grabbing and corruption.

A police spokesperson said that the body would be headed by AIG Khadim Rind and comprising DIGs Karim Khan, Tanveer Odho and SSP Ali Raza.

The committee was constituted to conduct an “inquiry into the complaint of the Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (Abad)”. Abad chairman Muhammad Altaf Tai sent a letter to the IGP and named six police officials allegedly involved in land grabbing and corruption.

The letter stated that apart from critical challenges such as escalating prices of iron, steel bars and construction material, the builders and developers were also facing the ‘issue of land grabbing’ due to the lack of effective institutional mechanisms to counter this menace.

Abad alleged that some police officials were “involved in corrupt practices and are criminally involved in land grabbing and encroachment of our members’ land”.
