PESHAWAR: The Federal Investigation Agency’s anti-money laundering cell has arrested six officials of the Workers Welfare Board (WWB) over alleged embezzlement in pension funds.
The arrested persons included WWB director Taj Wali, deputy director Azam Khan, assistant director Noorul Basar, account assistant Iqbal, besides Jan Alam and Waseem Akhtar, FIA officials said, adding that the accused were involved in embezzlement of over Rs100 million.
“Raids are being conducted to arrest Farooq Ali, manager of a private bank,” a senior official said, adding that cases had been registered against the accused persons under relevant sections of the law.
