SUKKUR: The Ghotki police on Sunday claimed to have gunned down a notorious dacoit wanted in the killing of a police officer during an encounter and many other cases of heinous crimes. They said that the dacoit, Mansoor Solangi, a resident of Kashmore, was killed during an encounter that took place within the jurisdiction of the A-Section police station.

A spokesman for the Ghotki district police claimed that Solangi, along with his other gang members was challenged by a team of the A-Section police while patrolling in the area. He said the gangsters opened fire upon seeing the police team. In the ensuing encounter, one of the gangsters sustained fatal bullet wounds and his associates took to their toes, the spokesman said.

The dead gangster was later identified as Mansoor Solangi, he added. A pistol lying beside his body was taken into custody, he said.
