PESHAWAR: The Federal Investigation Agency’s commercial banking circle on Monday arrested three persons for running illegal Hundi Hawala business.

The arrests were made during a raid in the provincial capital on Money. The FIA team also recovered Rs30.2 million from their procession.

FIA officials said they had received information about three persons running illegal Hundi Hawala business in Peoples Colony of the interior city.

“A raid was conducted on their location and three persons were arrested,” a senior FIA official said, adding cases were registered against the accused under relevant sections of the law.

Meanwhile, the agency’s immigration wing arrested a man at the Bacha Khan International Airport for trying to travel to Saudi Arabia on a fake visa.

An FIA official said Abdullah, a resident of Peshawar, was travelling from Peshawar to the Kingdom.

He added Abdullah’s travel documents were rechecked over suspicion and his visa turned out to be forged.

“The accused obtained the visa from a Peshawar-based agent,” the FIA official said, adding a case had been registered against the fraudster.
