SWABI: Unidentified thieves stole mobile phones worth Rs2 million from a shop in Marghuz Bazaar at Sehri here on Wednesday, the police and the shopkeeper said.

Sajjad Khan, the shop owner, told the police that he was informed by the watchman that his shop had been burgled. “When I went to my shop, all the things were scattered, and after checking, I found mobile sets worth Rs2 million were missing from his outlet,” he said.

He said the market’s watchman told him that he had gone for Sehri when the incident occurred.

SHO Zaida police station said the police were conducting raids to arrest the thieves.

Meanwhile, Amjad Ali, a resident of Tarakai village, got registered an FIR with the Kalu Khan police station, stating that unknown persons broke the locks of his auto parts shop on Tuesday night and stole 18 gearboxes of different vehicles.

Also, the police arrested a five-member gang of robbers, including three Afghans, who had looted citizens at gunpoint.

DSP Topi Roshan Zeb Khan identified as the robbers as Jamaluddin, Naqibullah and Abbas Khan, the Afghans, and Bakht Zaman and Noor Nabi Khan. He said the police also recovered seven mobile phones, a pistol and other items from them.
