TAXILA: Police during a crackdown on anti-social elements on Sunday arrested eight suspected outlaws besides busting a gang and recovering contraband, looted booty and weapons from their possession.

According to a police spokesman, the Wah Cantonment police busted a gang involved in street crime and arrested their three members including the ringleader besides recovery of looted booty and arms utilised during various criminal activities.

The gang, comprising Imam Sajid, Habib and ringleader Hamza, was involved in a number of street crime, including snatching and robbery in the area.

He said the looted booty besides arms utilised in crime was also recovered from their possession.

The spokesman said during the preliminary interrogation, the gang confessed to committing various robberies, snatching and other street crime in Taxila and Wah.

The same police arrested four liquour sellers and recovered 20 litres of locally made liquor from their possession.

The spokesman said that acting on a tip-off a crackdown was launched on liquor manufacturers in the area during which four suspects identified as Adnan, Zahid, Musawar and Hassan were arrested.

Separately, the Wah Cantonment police arrested a man allegedly involved in street crime. The suspect was identified as Talha. Looted cash, cell phones and a gun were recovered from his possession.
