TOBA TEK SINGH: A gunman was killed in an encounter with the Balochni police in Faisalabad on Tuesday.

According to a police spokesperson, two bandits were looting people near Cha 65-RB when, on being alerted, the police chased them near Chak 141-RB where they opened fire on policemen. The police also retaliated and called for more police force.

Another round of firefighting took place near the Aqilwala bridge of the Rakh branch canal, located near Chak Nos 141-RB and 147-GB. When the firing stopped, the police found one of the gunmen killed. He was identified as Muzammal Ali, of Chak 141-RB.

He claimed that the deceased was wanted by police in several robberies, and he died by the bullets fired by his accomplice, who fled the scene.

Superintendent of Police Rana Rehman Qadir told a press conference on Tuesday that Yasir Majeed from Basti Thaheeman Wali went to the mosque on March 7 but did not return. The next day, he was found dead in a pond.

During the autopsy, it was known that he had been strangled.

The police interrogated Amir Shah, who confessed that he killed Yasir because he had an affair with his brother’s wife.

ROBBER: A robber shot at and injured a van driver and a passenger when the driver sped the van in Faisalabad on Tuesday.

The robber had signaled the driver to stop near the Ashfaq textile mills located on Jarranwala Road.

Rescue 1122 shifted both driver Manzoor Ahmad and passenger Muhammad Nazir to the DHQ Hospital.

KILLED: Two unidentified persons shot dead bar clerk Nadim Bhutta of Umer Garden in Faisalabad on Tuesday.

The Roshanwala police said the deceased was on his way to drop his daughter off at school on his motorcycle when, on the Roshanwala bypass, two motorcycle riders opened indiscriminate fire at him, and as a result, he died while his daughter remained unhurt.

The police said it seemed Nadim was murdered over an enmity.

LIFE TERM: Gojra Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Zubair Ghouri handed down a life sentence on Tuesday to murder case convict Asad Javed of Nawan Lahore’s Chak 342 JB.

The court also sentenced Muhammad Afzal and Muhammad Ajmal to five years in prison and Muhammad Ali to two years in prison. Four other accomplices were given the benefit of the doubt.

According to the prosecution, two years ago, convicts killed Muhammad Akram and injured three others after a man of the deceased family had contacted a court marriage with a woman of the convict’s family.

The court also ordered the convicts to pay Rs925,000 as compensation to the heirs of the deceased.

CM: Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid a surprise visit to the free flour centres established at the Cooperative Training College, Hockey Stadium, and Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad on Tuesday.

He appreciated the arrangements and commended the performance of the staff from various departments, including the administration and police. He inquired about the availability of flour supply from the public and directed the staff to redress the complaints immediately.

When some citizens reported issues related to the verification process in the Benazir Income Support Programme or CNICs, he got their CNICs verified under his supervision, distributed flour to them, and asked them to get registered with the BISP.

He also interacted with the citizens and received positive feedback regarding the arrangements. He mentioned that more than 1.4 million flour bags had been distributed throughout Punjab on Tuesday alone, and over 196,000 bags were distributed in the Faisalabad division.
