RAWALPINDI: The Punjab police department has decided to purchase lubricants and oils required for their vehicles directly from manufacturers.

The move came about after reports that different units of police, while purchasing lubricants and oil, compromise on quality and standard in order to purchase them at a lower price.

According to sources, the decision was taken at meeting of the police executive board, held recently with additional inspector general of police (welfare and finance) Punjab in the chair.

Deputy inspector general of police (telecommunication and transport) briefed the meeting that there are 129 units purchasing lubricants and oils for police vehicles individually at their own levels and it has been observed that different units while purchasing lubricants and oil compromise on quality/standards of the same in order to purchase them at low prices.

Therefore, it was suggested that procurement of lubricant/oil may be centralised. After detailed deliberation and discussion, the chair approved that lubricants and oils required for their vehicles will be purchased directly from the manufacturers to save money and avoid malpractices, if there were any.

Meanwhile, Regional Police Officer Rawalpindi Syed Khurram Ali has directed the police to immediately pay pending dues of Ghazi police officials.

The directive was given by Mr Ali, while presiding over a meeting of the regional committee, established for the nomination of Ghazi police officers as per the orders of IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar, CPO Rawalpindi Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani, SSP Regional Investigation Board (RIB) Abdul Farooq and focal persons and welfare in-charges of all the districts of the region from the regional office.

DPO Attock Sardar Mohammad Ghayas Gul, DPO Chakwal Wahid Mehmood and DPO Jhelum Nasir Mahmood Bajwa participated in the meeting from their respective offices through video link.

RPO Rawalpindi reviewed the list and report of nominated Ghazi police officers of the four districts from participants of the meeting.

The cases of payment of dues of Ghazi police officers and officials are pending and they should be completed as soon as possible and as per the SOPs issued by IG Punjab, all proposed Ghazi police officers and officials should be checked and no one should be deprived of dues and all kinds of support should be provided to them in their treatment.

The RPO, while talking to participants, said that veteran police officers and officials are highly recognised for their bravery after martyrs.

Ghazi policemen who do not care for their lives while protecting the lives and property of the public are our valuable asset, for whose welfare we have ensured all possible measures.
