KARACHI: Six additional judges of the Sindh High Court took their oath on Friday in a ceremony held on the premises of the high court.

With the six new inductions the total number of judges in the SHC has risen to 35 against the sanctioned strength of 40.

SHC Chief Justice Ahmed Ali M. Shaikh administered the oath to Justices Amjad Ali Bohio, Muhammad Abdur Rahman, Khadim Hussain Soomro, Arbab Ali Hakro, Jawad Akbar Sarwana, and Sana Akram Minhas at the ceremony held at the main SHC building.

The programme was attended by judges, federal and provincial law officers as well as senior lawyers.

The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP), headed by the chief justice of Pakistan, in a meeting held on March 16 had recommended the appointment of additional judges in the SHC for a period of one year.

The JCP had discussed nine names nominated by SHC chief justice and after thorough deliberations the commission had recommended six names for appointment as additional judges.
