KARACHI: A tricky field has been dished out for the Eid Milan Cup when it takes place in the Gymkhana race meeting here at the Karachi Racecourse on Monday.

On paper, grey horse Flag of Champion looks favourite to repeat his winning run by getting past 10 other aspirants in the four-furlong cup race under scale order VII.

It is the third race of a five-race card drawn to celebrate the occasion.

Flag of Champion, who galloped to three lengths victory last week, is likely to be chased by dark bay horse Abdullah Prince and bay horse Golden Chance.

If tried, a pair of horses namely colt Mr Magic and bay horse Mandi Choice can trigger an upset.

With a win under her belt, filly Blazing Arrow is on chance to extend her run by capturing the fifth and last race under top scale order I being run over four-and-a-half furlongs. It is also the day’s feature event.

Mare Spirit may follow her footsteps to grab second place on board. However, thoroughbred chestnut horse Thunder Star may pull off an upset in a field of five acceptors.

Filly Princess Sadia seems to be the best bet in the fourth and supporting race under combined scale order II, III and IV being contested over four-and-a-half furlongs.

She is likely to be challenged by bay horse Cracks Man in a field of seven horses

At the outset, bay horse Mastana is expected to make amends by winning the opening race under scale order VIII being run over four furlongs.

Bay horse Money Shower and mare Basanti look a good choice for the next two places on board respectively. If on job, either of the two — bay horse Faisal King or grey horse Zabal One — can create quite a stir.

Seven horses are in line in the second race under scale order IV, V and VI being run over four furlongs.

Mare Zahrish may return to winning ways while making amends for the last week’s loss.

Chestnut horse Wapiti may attain second place.

Either of the pair of horses — Authority or Sweet Golden – may upset the applecart.

The first race starts at 1:00pm.
