SAHIWAL: Police on Tuesday registered a case against two men and arrested one of them for subjecting a married woman to acid attack over her refusal to develop relations with them in Qaboola Town, Arifwala tehsil.

Complainant ‘N’ told the police that he along with his wife [a mother of four] visited his sister-in-law’s house at Amjad Colony.

He said his wife came out of the house and on her way she was allegedly kidnapped by a cobbler ‘S’ and his accomplice ‘I’ and they sexually assaulted her and threw acid on her face.

Qaboola Station House Officer Jahanzeb Wattoo said police arrested main suspect ‘S’ using GPS technology and are conducting raids for the arrest of his accomplice. He said rape charges will be confirmed after medical examination.

Rescue 1122 shifted the woman to truma centre at Pakpattan DHQ hospital. As per doctors, the woman received 60 per cent burn injuries to her face and body.

ARMED CLASH: A man was killed and another suffered injuries in a clash between two rival groups over the possession of 12 acre agriculture land at village 63/ D’ Sikander Chowk on Tuesday morning.

Eyewitnesses said heavy firing continued for 30 minutes and more than 40 people of Wattoo and Balooch groups traded fire. As a result Allah Ditta of Balooch group was killed and the family blocked traffic by placing the body on Multan-Kasur Road for two hours.

The protesters were demanding arrest of suspected killers Shoaib, Liaqat, Sarfaz and Muhammad Ashraf.

On the assurances of District Police Officer Tariq Walayat and PML-N leader Hayat Manika, the protesters dispersed.

Chak Badian Station House Officer Abid Mohar said police on the complaint of deceased’s brother Umer Daraz registered a case against 20 nominated men under sections 302, 324, 435, 104, 148 and 149 of Pakistan Penal Code.

He said police arrested six members of Wattoo group.
