KHYBER: Two security personnel were injured in a midnight attack on a security checkpost in Bara tehsil of Khyber tribal district, police officials said.

They said that an unknown number of terrorists launched an attack on a joint checkpost of FC and police in Speen Qabar Chowk on Monday night using rockets, hand grenades and night vision guns.

They said that FC and police also retaliated with intense firing, forcing the militants to flee.

They, however, said that two security personnel, Ashraf Haider and Mirza Hussain, sustained injuries and were taken to a military hospital in Peshawar. Condition of one of the injured was stated to be critical.

On Tuesday, Khyber SP investigations Zia Hussain along with his subordinate staff visited the Speen Qabar checkpost and collected evidence from the site of the attack.

He also reviewed the internal and external security situation of the checkpost and directed the police and FC personnel to wear bulletproof jackets and helmets during their security duties.
