A card for your mother
Mother’s Day is a special occasion to celebrate and honour the incredible woman in our life — our mother. And one of the best ways to show your appreciation for your mother is by giving her a thoughtful and meaningful gift.
But if you haven’t chosen a present yet, and are still thinking of something to convey your love and admiration, let’s make a handmade card to make her feel cherished and loved.
Things you need:
Paper cutter (optional)
Scissors
Two A-4- sized papers, (colour of your choice).
Glue stick
Ruler
Pencil
Double tape
Butter paper
Two pictures (preferably you with your mother’s if you can’t arrange, you can take printouts of drawings of a mother from the internet).
Directions:
Cut three pieces from the A-4 sized paper. I’m naming the pieces as A, B and C and the sizes should be: A: 10x10cm; B:11x8cm; and C: 9x8cm. picture 2.
Take paper ‘A’ cut slits on both sides, parallel to each other, see picture 3.
Cut a strip from butter paper about 17cm long and 3.8cm wide, picture 4.
Insert the butter paper through the slits, picture 5
Secure the butter paper strip on the backside with double tape, picture 6.
Make sure the butter paper strip slides easily through the slits, like a strap. Paste a piece of double tape on the left side of the butter paper strap, picture 7.
Paste double tape in the same way on the other side, at the left.
Paste the pictures on the remaining two pieces of paper, pictures 8 and 9.
Take an 11x8cm piece of paper with a picture on it and paste it where we applied double tape on butter paper, picture 10. The picture should be a bit smaller than the paper, at least half centimetre from the whole card so that you can hold, picture 10
Take the remaining piece of paper with a picture; remember here you have to paste it in a way that it should not face you, instead it should only be showing its backside, picture 11.
To cover and give it a card look, paste any coloured or patterned paper on top on both sides, picture 12.
Leave it to dry; pull it from the right side, slowly and gently, picture 13. As you pull the picture from the right side, another picture will automatically come out from the left side. Your Mother’s Day card is ready!
