SWABI: A man killed two brothers and injured another over a trivial issue here on Sunday, a senior police official said.

DSP headquarters Jawad Khan told Dawn that three brothers, Zulfiqar Ali, Tahir Ali and Wajid Ali, were shopping in the Link Road Bazaar when a man, namely Sajjad Khan, appeared on the scene and opened fire on them.

As a result, Zulfiqar died on the spot, while Tahir and Wajid were injured critically. The injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, where Tahir succumbed to his injuries, the police officer said, adding that injured Wajid told the police in the hospital that they had earlier exchanged hot words with the accused over a trivial issue.

DSP Jawad said that both the accused and the victims belonged to Fawirabad village. He said that the police raided the house of the accused, but he had gone into hiding.

The Swabi city police station registered an FIR into the double murder and started further investigations.
