An anti-terrorism court in Lahore has extended PTI leader Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed’s physical remand for seven days in the case pertaining to the attack on Lahore Corps Commander’s House on May 9.

In the aftermath of PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s arrest, violent protests erupted across the country. During the entire episode, a number of military installations including the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi and the Lahore Corps Commander’s House were vandalised.

Following the riots, a number of PTI leaders were arrested, including Rasheed.

During a hearing today, the police presented Rasheed in court and requested Judge Abher Gul Khan to approve the PTI leader’s 20-day physical remand.

“We had earlier gotten a two-day physical remand but he was admitted to the hospital, halting the interrogation process,” the investigating officer said. “On the order of the Lahore High Court, a medical board was formed and Rasheed was taken to the hospital.”

After hearing the arguments, the judge remanded Rasheed into police custody for seven more days.
