President Arif Alvi has said former prime minister Imran Khan had not objected to the appointment of Gen Asim Munir to the post of chief of army staff (COAS).

The president said this in reply to a question on Geo News show ‘Capital Talk’.

He further shared during the interview that Imran had asked him to convey to then-army chief retired Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa that the “next COAS would be the one decided by the institution”.

The president added that even in meetings between retired Gen Bajwa and Imran, “no preferences were shared” regarding the next COAS.
