HYDERABAD: Transfer challenged

Published January 24, 2006

HYDERABAD, Jan 23: The Sindh High Court, Hyderabad bench, on Monday issued notices to the education secretary, district officer, EDO, and a high school teacher, on a petition.

The petition was filed by a woman teacher challenging her transfer by the EDO under a directive of the chief minister and with approval of the district nazim.

She said that after she was promoted as a high school teacher on seniority basis, she moved an application to the secretary for education for posting her as a supervisor of primary education in Digri.

She said the secretary called comments from the DO and the EDO. She said the DO and the EDO submitted their comments to a section officer with the EDO proposing that she should be posted as supervisor in Digri.

She claimed that the DO submitted reports against Shahana Bani, supervisor, to the EDO, pointing out that she had not fulfilled conditions laid down by the department and her posting was in violation of rules.

She said that thereafter the education secretary transferred her from Digri to the Government Girls’ High School, Kot Ghulam Mohammad. She prayed the court to declare her transfer order illegal.—BoC
