LARKANA: Old dispute claims two lives

LARKANA, Jan 23: Two people were killed and a passerby was injured in a clash between two groups here on Monday. Some armed men shot dead Ghulam Mohammad Abro near Deeni Madressah and escaped. To avenge the murder, a group of people of the Abro clan shot dead Ghulam Rasool Mahar near Murad Wahan locality. The passerby, Lashkari Khan Jatoi, who was injured in the firing, was admitted to the Chandka Medical College Hospital.

The reason behind the incident is said to be an old dispute between Abros and Mahars.

POLIO: In-charge of an anti-polio campaign in Southern Sindh, Dr Yahya Mustafa, while addressing the district council, stressed the need to work together to eradicate the disease from the province.

He said polio was completely eradicated from 160 countries of the world due to joint efforts.

The problem of polio now existed only in six countries and Pakistan was one of them, Dr Mustafa said.

He said Pakistan had been a country where 3,000 cased of polio had used to be reported, but now the cases were reduced to 27.

Dr Abdul Majeed Jessar also spoke on the occasion.
