HYDERABAD: District and town officers administered oath to members of district councils and town committees, general ward councillors, chairmen and vice chairmen at special ceremonies in several Sindh districts on Monday in accordance with schedule of the Election Commission of Pakistan.

In Hyderabad, out of 960 elected chairmen and vice chairmen and ward councillors, 929 took oath in 160 union committees of Hyderabad Municipal Corporation while 26 candidates did not turn up to take oath.

In Larkana, over 400 members of district council, Larkana Municipal Corporation, Ratodero, Dokri and Bakrani taluka took oath in the city and taluka headquarters.

In Thatta, a total of 72 members of district council, municipal committee and town committee, and 40 chairmen, as many vice chairmen, and 160 elected members of union councils took the oath.

In Mirpurkhas, newly elected chairmen, vice chairmen and general councillors of 53 union councils took oath of office.

In Badin, elected members of district council, 10 town committees, and two municipal committees took oath.
