Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, in a press conference held a little after midnight, claimed that intelligence agencies intercepted a telephone call in which a plan to “stage a raid and rape at a known PTI worker’s home” was being discussed.

Sanaullah alleged that the conspiracy was being hatched to later claim that human rights were being violated in Pakistan and atrocities being committed on the people.

The interior minister did not provide any proof of his claim.

In a separate tweet, he said, “The country’s agencies intercepted a conversation, revealing disturbing plots and planned actions, including a raid on the PTI leader’s house and a staged rape.”

The minister said that the objective was to falsely implicate law enforcement agencies in the crime and to subsequently raise the issue at an international level.
