Federal Minister for Power Khurram Dastgir has expressed his appreciation for the Punjab Police and their treatment of women who were detained in relation to the May 9 violence.

Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, the minister specifically praised the deputy commissioner and SP operations in Lahore, both of whom are women, for their commitment to upholding the law throughout the process.

He emphasised that they ensured strict adherence to the law in handling the situation. Dastgir also pointed out that those who were raising concerns about the treatment of women had themselves been associated with incidents involving violence against women during their own rallies.
