KOHAT: The Kohat-Rawalpindi railcar service was suspended on Thursday after the track was blocked due to landsliding at Nakband, some 45 kilometres from here.

The station master said that due to absence of communication, the local volunteers removed the rocks and cleared the track. He said that perhaps the rocks blocked the track after heavy rain on Wednesday night.

The railcar on its way to Kohat from Rawalpindi had to stop at the spot after discovering the rocks blocking the track.

Dozens of people removed the heavy stones with the help of iron rods and hands and opened the track for rail traffic.

Meanwhile, the commissioner, Kohat division, inaugurated a computerised driving licence facility at the KDA district secretariat here on Thursday.

The commissioner, Syed Mohammad Ali Shah, was accompanied by the secretary regional transport authority (RTA) Mohammad Shoaib, additional commissioner Hidayatullah, additional deputy commissioner Sheharyar Qamar and others.

Speaking on the occasion, the commissioner said now the licences for light, heavy and passenger vehicles would be issued to the applicants of Hangu, Karak, Orakzai, Kurram and tribal subdivision of Darra Adamkhel within 15 days after clearance of the test.
