LOWER DIR: The elementary and secondary education department has suspended 24 employees, including 18 primary, four middle and high schoolteachers and two Class-IV employees for their alleged involvement in sabotage activities on May 9.
Three different circulars issued from the office of district education officer (male) on Monday said the action was taken after an inquiry report found that they were involved violent protests following the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan on May 9.
PROTEST PLAN: The All Government Employees’ Grand Alliance (AGEGA) on Monday announced that hundreds of workers would participate in the proposed protest sit-in in Islamabad on June 8 to push for 100 per cent increase in their salaries.
The announcement was made during a meeting held in Timergara with the alliance’s chairman Akhunzada Ubaidullah in the chair.
The participants said the galloping inflation and devaluation of Pakistani currency against the US dollar had forced the salaried class to come onto the roads. They said the government employees were finding it difficult to feed their families in their existing salaries.
The speakers said hundreds of government employees would participate in the sit-in.
DISPUTE RESOLVED: A jirga on Monday resolved a property and monetary dispute between two parties in Talash on Monday.
The families belonging to Kalo Manai Talash and Kharkanai Ouch had got registered cross-FIRs against each other at the Talash police station.
A local jirga led by a member of the dispute resolution council, Syed Hassan Khan Advocate succeeded in resolving the matter at a function held in Talash.
CONVENTION: Pakistan Peoples Party provincial president and minister of state for water resources Syed Mohammad Ali Shah Bacha has insisted the PPP is emerging as a strong force in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and it will form the next government in the province.
He was addressing a workers’ convention held in Chakdara Fishing Hut on Monday.
The PPP leaders claimed the federal government would extend the tax-free status of Malakand division. They said the party planned a massive gathering in Khwazakhela, Swat on June 17, which would be addressed by party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
