RECTIFYING GLITCHES: The relevant federal ministry has recently launched Teleschool Pakistan, an e-learning platform which runs six live educational channels from kindergarten (KG) till grade 12. This is a welcome step that will further enhance the literacy rate in the country. However, after trying to sign up for the platform, I have come across several issues and glitches that need to be sorted out immediately so that people may make use of this platform.

LAB EQUIPMENT: There is a shortage of equipment in various laboratories of the University of Karachi. Without equipment, the students cannot excel in lab work. At the Microbiology department, we, the students, have been suffering for some time as we are unable to carry out any lab-related assignment in the absence of microscopes and other necessary equipment. The university administration should redress this issue.

COUNTING HOUSEHOLDS: The country’s first digital housing and population census has ended apparently without having done the job properly. According to a resident of Gulshan-i-Benazir falling in the jurisdiction of Port Qasim Authority (PQA), no enumerator ever visited the town that has close to 400 houses. Similar complaints have surfaced from other areas. The numbers, announced officially, will be less than credible.

ILLEGAL BARRIERS: In 2015, a two-member bench of the Sindh High Court had asked the relevant agencies to remove illegal barriers blocking streets and lanes in residential areas. The orders were carried out swiftly and most of the barriers were removed. However, the barriers are resurfacing in several localities. Is this not in violation of the court orders? The administration should step in and stop this forthwith.
