LONDON: A crowd of PTI supporters, who gathered outside the British Parliament on Sunday to protest against the alleged violation of human rights in Pakistan, said that no anti-army slogans were raised by the party during UK protests.

About 200 people gathered outside the House of Commons on Sunday evening under the PTI banner and raised slogans for justice and “human rights violations” in Pakistan. Women and the elderly were also prominent in the crowd of demonstrators.

Speaking to Dawn, Sahibzada Jahangir, focal person of former prime minister Imran Khan in the UK and Europe, said: “The demonstration was for the very serious violation of human rights in Pakistan.”

He warned that overseas Pakistanis will stop sending money back as PTI supporters from the UK who were visiting Pakistan were also harassed and detained after the May 9 crackdown. “We are not saying anything bad about the military establishment. We stand with our army,” Mr Jahangir said.

“The last few weeks have been very difficult for Pakistan. The defectors have gone but those remaining are the last few standing, who will see us till the end,” a female supporter said.
