GILGIT: The coordinator to Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid and his parents were killed after his vehicle fell into a ravine on Tuesday. His sister sustained serious injuries.

Muzamil Hussain was travelling with his family when the accident took place in Skardu.

According to police, the car skidded off Jugulote-Skardu Road and fell into a ravine near Shangos area on Tuesday morning.

Muzamil Hussain, his father and mother died on the spot while his sister received critical injuries.

Rescue 1122 shifted the injured woman to a hospital in Gilgit while the bodies were shifted to Ghanche district where they were buried in the evening.

Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid Khan, Speaker Nazir Ahmed Advocate, ministers as well as the opposition leader expressed condolences with the bereaved family and prayed for the departed souls.

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf has announced three days of mourning in Gilgit-Baltistan following the tragedy. Muzamil Hussain, who was a lawyer, had recently been appointed as one of the coordinators to the region’s chief minister.
