ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday appointed new office-bearers, while the new party formed by those leaving PTI, also announced a new information secretary.

Firdous Shamim Naqvi is the PTI’s new senior vice president, which Ali Nawaz Awan has been appointed additional secretary general with immediate effect, says a notification of the party.

The notification was issued by PTI’s Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan with the approval of PTI chairman Imran Khan.

The post of the senior vice president was earlier held by Fawad Chaudhry who had resigned from the party.

Later, PTI’s Secretary General Asad Umar also resigned from the party due to which Additional Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan was promoted as the Secretary General of PTI.

Mr Ali Nawaz Awan remained committed to PTI and did not leave the party despite the fact that a number of raids had been made at his house by police to arrest him.

“I am committed to the PTI and will remain committed to the party despite all difficulties,” Mr Awan told Dawn.

Separately, ex-PTI member and a former information minister, Firdous Ashiq Awan, was announced as the central information secretary of the newly-formed Istehkam-i-Pakistan Party. The announcement was made by party patron, Jahangir Tareen, on his official Twitter page.
