Conquer the fear of darkness with a smile
This is regarding the article “Conquer the fear of darkness with a smile” by Sehrish Naz (YW, May 20). The subject of the article is rarely discussed, and I’m grateful that I finally had the chance to read about it.
The writer aptly pointed out that many of us experience the fear of darkness at some point in our lives. This fear stems from our inability to see in the dark, triggering an immediate fear response in our mind. The writer provided practical advices on how to overcome this fear and regain full confidence in the face of darkness.

The article “Conquer the fear of darkness with a smile” by Sehrish Naz was an amazing read. The writer provided practical tips that I found very useful.
One tip that stood out to me was gradually dimming the lights in our room to help overcome the fear of darkness. This approach allows us to adjust to the darker environment gradually. Additionally, I appreciated the idea of creating a DIY lamp for our rooms. Having a soothing light source can create a relaxing atmosphere and help alleviate any fears associated with darkness.

Never give up!
There are many people in this world who believe they have failed to achieve their goals, causing them to give up. They think that achieving their goals on the first try is impossible.
Let’s consider the example of studying. Many students aspire to be at the top of their class, but there is always someone who consistently comes first, making other students lose hope and give up. Trying seems meaningless to them. However, everyone experiences both successes and failures. If you persevere through tough times and refuse to give up, you will eventually pass. Failure should not be an option.
Doctors serve as another example. They strive to save their patients until the very end, even in the most challenging circumstances. Despite difficulties, there is always a glimmer of hope. Whenever you fear messing up while pursuing your goals, instead of giving up, think about your parents and how much they believe in you.
Believe in yourself and hang in there. Always remember that where there is a will, there is a way. When things become tough, take a moment to reflect on how far you have come. If someone criticises you, do not let it demotivate you. They are underestimating your abilities. Show them your true potential, regardless of the circumstances. Do not let negativity overpower you.
