LAHORE: Pakpattan police claimed on Saturday to have arrested 202 alleged drug peddlers and seized 187kg drugs from them during the last two months.

According to a handout, Qaboola police arrested 28 drugs pushers and recovered 38.8kg drugs, including 24.2kg hashish, 2.2kg opium, 1.8kg heroin and 52 gram ice, City Arifwala police took into custody 26 drug dealers and recovered 25kg hashish, Saddar Pakpattan police arrested 20 and recovered 19.5kg hashish from them.

Saddar Arifwala police arrested 17 drug dealers and recovered 16kg hashish and 1.7kg opium, Ahmed Yar police also held 17 drug dealers and recovered 15.8kg hashish, 550kg opium, City Pakpattan police arrested 22 drug dealers and recovered 17.7kg hashish, Farid Nagar police took into custody 18 drug dealers and recovered 13.9kg hashish, and Malka Hans police arrested 15 drug dealers and recovered 11.8kg hashish from them.

The Kalyana Police Station arrested 13 drug dealers and recovered 10.4kg hashish, Chakbedi police arrested 14 drug dealers and recovered 9.4kg hashish and Rangshah police arrested nine drug dealers and recovered 6.1kg hashish from them.

These statistics were shared by Pakpattan District Police Officer Tariq Wilayat who said the crackdown on the trade and use of narcotics would continue as the drug pushers would not be allowed to roam freely in the district.

He said drugs worth about Rs11.8m were recovered from the arrested suspects.

He claimed that operations against drug dealers would continue until elimination of the scourge of drugs from society.
