RAWALPINDI: After a gap of six months, the bazaar and building committee of Chaklala Cantonment Board (CCB) elected representatives who will meet on Monday (today) to give approval to building plans in cantonment areas.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) suspended elected members in view of elections in Punjab but after passing the schedule date, it restored elected members of cantonment. After getting notification, all members of Rawalpindi and Chaklala Cantonment Board became active. During suspension of elected members, both cantonment boards did not hold a meeting and the cases of building plans and other issues have been pending.

Though, cantonment boards of Rawalpindi and Chaklala auction cattle markets for Eidul Azha, yet the permission will formally be obtained from the elected board in the coming week.

In the absence of elected members, station commander has been authorised to give permission on emergency cases but it will be presented before elected boards.

When contacted, CCB’s former vice president Raja Irfan Imtiaz said that members restored formally and the meeting of the bazaar and building had been called while the board meeting would likely be held in the next week.
