HYDERABAD: The city’s mayor-elect, Kashif Shoro, on late Saturday night vowed to serve everyone irrespective of party affiliation and to restore glory of Hyderabad.

Addressing party workers during fireworks celebration to mark PPP’s victory in the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections, Mr Shoro said the Pakistan Peoples Party had created history by making a jiyala mayor of Hyderabad as desired by the party chairman, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari.

The party workers danced on the party songs while a cake was cut on the occasion.

Mr Shoro expressed his gratitude to the party leadership, all fellow workers and the people of Hyderabad for electing him as mayor. He said it was expression of their confidence on an ‘ordinary worker’.

He said Hyderabad is a historical city with a population of 2.6 million and vowed to restore glory of Hyderabad.

He pledged to serve people irrespective of their political affiliations and said that he would try his best to serve the people of Hyderabad.

He said that those who had sown seed of hate had met their fate, adding that people of the city had buried the politics of ethnicity.

He vowed to carry forward mission of PPP founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and former prime minister Benazir Bhutto to serve masses as they are bastion of power.

He added that he along with deputy mayor and town’s chairmen would serve people at their doorsteps.
