NAROWAL: A transgender elder, along with his associates, allegedly subjected three transgender individuals to torture at a Sialkot police station due to non-payment of extortion before fleeing the scene.

Muhammad Arsalan, also known as Sweety, Ramzan, alias Kabutri, and Amjad Ali, also known as Sana, lodged a complaint at the Hajipura police station, stating that Guru Shani, alias Kala, was extorting a monthly allowance from them.

Sweety told Dawn that the Hajipura police summoned both parties to the police station for investigation. However, upon arrival, they were attacked by Guru Shani, Nani and six unidentified people. She said they were assaulted with a sharp object, resulting in serious injuries and fractured skulls.

The Hajipura police registered a first information report (FIR) against eight suspects, including Shani, on Sweety’s complaint. The police said the Hajipura police have arrested four of the named suspects mentioned in the FIR.

VERDICT: The district and sessions judge in Narowal has delivered the verdict in the case involving the killing of a 13-year-old girl.

Rehmat Ali from Ghouta Fatehgarh, a village in the outskirts of Narowal, filed a complaint with the police in July 2021, stating that Mubasher, Azizur Rehman, Dilshad, Nadeem Mohsin, Ayub and three unidentified people forcefully entered his house, opened fire and killed his 13-year-old granddaughter, Umm-i-Ruman.

A few days before the incident, he had a minor altercation with the accused, which led them to retaliate by entering his house and carrying out the shooting.

The Nadoke police registered an FIR against the six nominated suspects and three unidentified people.

Judge Syed Ali Imran sentenced Mubasher to death and ordered him to pay a compensation of Rs500,000 to the girl’s family. Failure to pay the compensation would result in an additional six-month imprisonment for the convict.

The remaining defendants received a 10-year imprisonment sentence under Section 449 of the PPC, along with a fine of Rs100,000.
