KARACHI: Principal Secretary to Sindh Governor Dr Syed Saifur Rahman, a former Karachi administrator, has said that Karachi Press Club (KPC) has always played a leading role in the support of rights and justice, promotion of democratic values and positive and constructive journalism.

“The voice from the press club reaches every corner of the country and this tradition has strengthened further with the passage of time,” he said.

He was speaking at the KPC while receiving an honorary life-time membership of club on Thursday.

Dr Rahman said that the KPC had become a ray of hope for the oppressed and helpless people; services of the club for the city of Karachi, the province and the country were worth-writing in golden words. “Journalism is important as the main pillar of the state and the achievements of several personalities associated with this field cannot be forgotten,” he added.

Addressing the ceremony, KPC president Saeed Sarbazi said that the approval for giving honorary membership to Dr Rahman was given by the club’s governing body on March 30, 2023. The purpose of this initiative was to recognise the services of the officers working for the development of the city and the province.

KPC Secretary Shoaib Ahmed said that under this old tradition, those who had rendered valuable services to the country and the city were awarded honorary membership of the club.
