KARACHI: Just a month after appointing him the controller of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK), the Sindh government has made a Larkana board official the controller of examination of the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK).

Zaheeruddin Bhutto, who was deputy controller of the Board of Secondary Education Larkana, was posted as acting BIEK controller in May in violation of Supreme Court’s judgments on deputation and giving additional responsibilities in Own Pay Scale (OPS).

On Thursday, the provincial government issued another notification through which it gave Mr Bhutto additional responsibility of controller of examination of BSEK.

It stated that Mr Bhutto “is hereby assigned the look after charge of the post of controller of examination” of the BSEK as a “stop gap arrangement”.

Sources said that Sindh Minister for Universities and Boards Ismail Rahoo had brought Mr Bhutto from Larkana and gave him responsibilities one after other despite the fact that his department’s secretary as well as the Sindh chief secretary were not in favour of bringing officials on deputation in violation of the apex court’s judgement.

The sources said that the intermediate part I exams are going to begin later this month and it would be very difficult for one official to handle and timely deliver the results of Matric and Intermediate exams.
