GILGIT: A mountaineer and a paraglider got injured in two separate mishaps during their adventures, officials said on Thursday.

Rudolfova Tereza, a female climber from the Czech Republic, got injured at Spantik peak while the paraglider from South Africa sustained injuries near K2 base camp.

Shigar DC Waliullah Falahi told Dawn that an eight-member expedition team from the Czech Republic recently started the summit of Spantik (7,027 metres) in Shigar.

Pakistan Army Aviation has been requested to airlift the injured climber and officials were in contact with Mr Tereza, the DC told Dawn.

The climbers have been requested to bring their injured colleague down for the airlift, expected to take place today (Friday). She will be shifted to Skardu for treatment.

In a separate incident, a paraglider from South Africa was injured at Urdukas and Pujo areas near the K2 base camp.

Five paragliders from South Africa and the UK had arrived to take part in the adventure sports, according to the Shigar DC.
