The darkest hours are just before dawn

This is with the reference to the article “The darkest hours are just before dawn” by Zainab Soomro (YW, May 20). The article discusses the importance of believing in ourselves.

It points out that many times we lack self-belief, which can be a big problem, especially when students are studying for exams or tests, they often doubt their abilities. This affects our reading and studying habits. Instead of thinking about our future and making plans, we should simply keep studying.

The article “The darkest hours are just before dawn” by Zainab Soomro sheds light on the importance of believing in ourselves, a challenge that many of us face.

The article specifically addresses students who often lack confidence in their abilities, especially when it comes to exams and tests. This lack of self-belief becomes a major obstacle in their academic journey. However, the article emphasises the need to trust oneself and adopt a positive mindset to overcome such challenges.

Phubbing is a social problem

This is with reference to the article “Phubbing is a social problem” by Ramsha Mujib (YW, May 20). The writer highlighted the persistent use of mobile phones by people even when they are in the company of others.

Undoubtedly, it is a disrespectful act, implying that we are ignoring the person we are sitting with. Consequently, people are reluctant to engage with us due to this phenomenon known as phubbing.

Furthermore, this behaviour hampers our ability to fully appreciate the present moment and connect with others. It is essential to give our undivided attention and time to the person we are interacting with in order to truly understand and engage with them.

I thoroughly enjoyed the article “Phubbing is a social problem” by Ramsha Mujib as it accurately portrayed the impact of mobile phone usage on today’s generation. It highlighted how individuals often engage with their phones while with family and friends, leading to inattentiveness and a lack of appreciation for the present moment.

I appreciate the conclusion of the article, emphasising the importance of implementing a rule that prohibits phone usage during gatherings, ensuring everyone is fully present and able to cherish the moment.
