RAWALPINDI: The Punjab caretaker government on Saturday asked the district administration and police to make adequate arrangements to facilitate tourists in Murree during the Eidul Azha holidays.

Arrangements should also be put in place keeping in view the forecast of heavy rains during the period.

This was stated by caretaker Minister for Primary Health and Population Welfare Dr Jamal Nasir at a meeting held to review the arrangements along with Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatha and Regional Police Officer Syed Khurram Ali at Jinnah Hall in Murree.

Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Hasan Waqar Cheema, SSP Operations Aamir Khan Niazi and Assistant Commissioner Murree Kamran Hussain also attended the meeting.

The minister conveyed the message of Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi that all departments in Murree should work in a coordinated manner to provide facilities and security to tourists and avoid negligence and absence from duty.

“Seven facilitation centres will be established for tourists in Murree while a control room has been set up for monitoring. For the convenience of tourists, pamphlets are also kept at the facilitation centres, which contain all the contact numbers required to deal with an emergency, and there is also a map to guide the tourists.”

He said that representatives of all administrative institutions, including Murree administration, police, Rescue 1122, tourism department, health department, civil defence, will be present at the centres to provide awareness to the tourists.

The minister said medical staff will be present round the clock and these arrangements will continue in July and August as well. He said that the Murree administration was fully active to guide tourists and the traffic management plan should be fully implemented.

He said facilitation centres had been established at GPO Chowk, Kashmir Point, Jhika Gali, Barian, Lower Topa, Guldna and Satra Mail.

The commissioner said that on the occasion of Eidul Azha all possible facilities will be provided to the tourists in Murree. He said special cleanliness arrangements will also be made to maintain environment of Murree.

The RPO said best security arrangements will be made in Murree and additional personnel will be provided. He said a formal security plan had been prepared for Eid.

The deputy commissioner said it was the responsibility of the administration to provide facilities to the tourists, which will be carried out in an efficient manner and for this purpose all administrative officers will be present in Murree.
